A grandma who allegedly refused to babysit her daughter’s baby on less than $20 an hour has been applauded by netizens, with many scolding the mother for her expectations.

“Your mother is under no obligation to take care of YOUR BABY. It’s generous of her to be willing to do it for a fee, and you have the nerve to be mad that she doesn’t do it for free? She has the right to spend her life and her free time as she sees fit, ”responded a user on Reddit, according to what “The Independent” reported on Thursday.

In a post on a Reddit forum, the 29-year-old allegedly posted recently to see if she was in the wrong for asking her mother, a 64-year-old woman, to babysit her baby while she works.

“My mother has been a stay-at-home mom since 1992 and hasn’t worked since. She also told me that if I really wanted this baby, maybe I should have thought regarding staying home like she did to take care of it, while my spouse goes to work and provides for us as a family. “traditional”,” said the woman.

The 29-year-old mother went on to say that her financial situation would not allow either parent to stay at home at this time.

«[Elle a dit] that if she and my dad might do it, so can we,” she added.

The grandmother would thus have ended up agreeing to babysit, in exchange for an amount of $20 per hour and fees for delays – the average hourly rate for a full-time nanny in the United States, according to “The Independent”.

Internet users were numerous to take the side of the grandmother, in the publication which reached more than 2,200 comments.

“You chose to have a child, not your mother. Your mother is not a free babysitter. She’s right, she raised her children. Occasional babysitting would be nice and appreciated, but you seem to think you are owed babysitting,” another user responded.
