A tribal jirga was held in Turbat of Kech district of Balochistan, in which regional issues were discussed.
Governor Balochistan Mr. Jafar Khan Mandukhel, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Commander Balochistan Corps Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, IGF Balochistan (South) Major General Bilal Sarfaraz Khan, ministers, senators, regional chiefs, senior civil and Military officials, women, students and local people participated.
At the beginning of the Jirga, the participants laid wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial and chanted Fatiha for the martyrs.
The participants of the Jirga met representatives of various sections including Makran tribal elders, businessmen, women, and students, listened to their problems and consulted on them.
On this occasion, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the unique scholarship program, under which the provincial government of Balochistan will bear all the expenses of PhD abroad for the educated youth of Balochistan.
The provincial government will bear the cost of sixteen years of education of the first ten students of each district in the matriculation and intermediate examinations of the Balochistan Board.
A skills development program is also being launched in Balochistan for youth and unemployed people, which will provide employment opportunities to people abroad.
After the year 2000, the government of Balochistan will bear the support of the families of the innocent people who were martyred in terrorist acts and the educational expenses of their children.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Balochistan said that no one will be allowed to obstruct the path of peace and development of Balochistan. The martyrdom of unskilled workers in Balochistan is sad, and the state stands with the oppressed. Those challenging the state writ will be dealt with severely. The Chief Minister of Balochistan paid tribute to the tribal elders and people for their sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The tribal elders paid tribute to the key role of the law enforcement agencies in the establishment of peace in Balochistan and assured full cooperation with all agencies for the establishment of peace and order in the region.
Moreover, on the occasion of Iqbal Day organized by FC Balochistan (South) in South Balochistan to enlighten the thought and message of Allama Iqbal, the students who showed outstanding performance in speech competitions were awarded prizes by the Chief Guest.
At the end of the Jirga, the local elders expressed full confidence and satisfaction on the steps being taken by the Balochistan government and the Pakistan Army for the development of the area and the establishment of peace and order.
