This first look at the next installment of the hit series, revealed by Rockstar Games, follows years of speculation regarding the setting, characters and atmosphere of GTA VI.
What will the game look like?
The action takes place in Vice City, the “city of crime” with its neon lights and dangerous nightlife, rich in breathtaking details – a major improvement over the graphics of GTA V, released 10 years ago.
It is a fictional version of Miami, Florida, where the 2002 opus “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” took place.

Set to Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” the video contains everything gamers everywhere have come to love – or hate – regarding GTA: fast-paced car chases, scantily clad women and plenty of nods to social media culture.
Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar, said that GTA VI “continues our efforts to push the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to open-world, highly immersive, story-driven experiences.”
What is the biggest change?
For the first time, one of the main characters will be a woman. At the center of the trailer is Lucia, in an orange inmate jumpsuit, in what appears to be a prison.
She is then seen with a man – referred to as Jason by media reports. The duo, masked, enters stores and flees by car to escape their pursuers, in a Bonnie and Clyde-style chase.

The introduction of the character Lucia follows decades of criticism once morest Rockstar over the depiction of women in its games, particularly their lack of autonomy and the violence and denigration they experience.
“It’s a decision worth highlighting, and one that other games companies have not made in the past,” Esther Wright, a games historian at Cardiff University, told AFP. “That said, the game feels like the GTA that people know and love… It still sits very comfortably within Rockstar’s habits,” she added. “We’ll have to wait and see if the attachment to the GTA brand and player expectations leaves enough space to engage with a different perspective.”

Who will be able to play GTA VI, and when?
While players were excited by what they saw of GTA VI, they were somewhat frustrated by the announced release date: 2025.

The game will be released on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S consoles.
No PC version was mentioned.
How did the fans react?
The trailer quickly became one of the hottest topics on social media. “I got goosebumps,” commented @sachinbhujel909 on YouTube. “We have all waited a good part of our lives… RIP to those who never got to see this.”
AFP
In the space of eleven hours, the trailer was viewed over 57 million times on YouTube. Some are betting that she can break the record for the number of views in 24 hours, more than 100 million for the music video for “Butter” by K-pop superstars BTS.
Some joked regarding the fate of the leakers and how Rockstar – famous for its secrecy – might punish them. Like this image shared by @vidsthatgohard, which shows an explosion in a house, with this caption: “NOOOOO, they got the GTA leaker”.
Others poked fun at how long it will take to play the game, posting videos of people adopting a healthier lifestyle to survive until 2025.
Wasn’t the trailer due on Tuesday?
Rockstar had announced that the trailer would be released on Tuesday, but someone leaked the video almost a day earlier on X. The account was quickly suspended, but the leak forced the company to release the trailer early provided that.
