The next Grand Theft Auto is in active development, and Rockstar is aiming to “significantly go beyond what we’ve done before.” Rumors regarding the game have been around for quite some time.
Chris Klippel of Rockstar Magazine, who previously reported that the sequel was rebooted in 2020 following the departure of co-founder Dan Houser, says a “major milestone” has been reached. In a recent tweet, Klippel states that “an important milestone has been reached in #GTA6 development. Everything needs to speed up (inside Rockstar).”
Klippel also thinks a “real announcement” is possible by the end of the year, though he doesn’t think the game will be released before the end of 2024. Given that previous rumors also predicted a launch no earlier than 2025, that’s not entirely impossible.
An important milestone in the development of #GTA6 has just been reached. Everything needs to speed up (inside Rockstar). I think a (real) announcement is possible at the end of the year. In any case, I don’t think the game will arrive before the end of 2024!
