“Yes I do” on one side. “Yes I want it from the other”. It’s now official: Maurane and Jonathan are married! The lovers said yes on Saturday followingnoon. This is the first couple to unite in the Town Hall since its renovation.

A significant moment for the lovebirds, who inaugurate the return of the ceremonies in the splendid building of the Grand-Place. “We get married to pass a stage in the construction of our family life, we have three children. Saying yes to this building adds something. My parents got married in this room in 1995. Doing it 28 years later is symbolic“, explains Jonathan.

On the famous ritornello of the wedding march, the lovers and their loved ones took advantage of the moment. “We will keep many memories of this day and of the civil wedding, especially in such a majestic setting.“, adds Maurane.

Two other couples also had the chance to seal their union in the newly restored City Hall, six years following its desertion. “A little stressed” more “mostly happy“, the alderman Laurent Harduin was at the helm of the three ceremonies of the day. The opportunity for the chosen one to recall the whole history of this emblematic place and the major decisions that were taken there. After all, marriage is also a big decision, “you are on your 31 today. A few days ago, you would have gotten married with a construction helmet“, jokes Laurent Harduin, who also savored his reunion with the Town Hall.
