Grand Barometer RTL INFO: only one party is making progress despite the energy crisis

A year following the start of the rise in energy prices, has this crisis penalized parties? Quoted “WINNERS“, there is only one party that has only risen since the beginning of this crisis: Vooruit, the Flemish socialists. In 4 waves of polls, since last September, they have regained their score of there regarding 15 years, close to 17%.

The party of Conner Rousseau benefits from its position in the opposition, in Flanders and does not suffer from its participation in the federal majority.

Same position for the MR, in more moderate scores: the liberals are progressing especially in Brussels where the MR is in the regional opposition.

A STAGNATION

One would have thought that the PTB, while in the midst of a purchasing power crisis and an impoverishment of many households, was going to benefit from this crisis. However, the party has not made progress for a year. The party’s polemical positions on the war in Ukraine, NATO and Vladimir Putin may have cooled some of the electorate. It’s a hypothesis. Two nuances to this standstill of the PTB:

1) The communists are blocked at a very high level: around 18% in Wallonia.
2) On a personal level, Raoul Hedebouw becomes the 4th favorite personality of the Walloons. An unprecedented place for an elected representative of the anti-capitalist left.

LOSERS

Green parties are paying the heaviest price for this crisis. Perhaps because of the newfound popularity of nuclear power. Perhaps because climate issues are relegated to the background due to the decline in purchasing power.

In general, almost all governments are sanctioned during this re-entry. Surely for their shyness, in terms of financial support for citizens and their energy bills. Their confidence ratings have never been so low since the beginning of the legislature.

Technical data table:

  • The interviews took place online
  • The maximum margin of error, for a percentage of 50% and a confidence rate of 95% is approximately 3.1% in Flanders, 3.1% in Wallonia; 4% in Brussels.
