Graffiti artists: between art and vandalism – National Radio of Colombia

The essence of graffiti artists arises from the need to express what, according to them, many hide or keep silent, so walls become their allies to represent those who have no voice. Feeling that their graffiti has a social purpose, they are caught in the thin line between art and vandalism.

Several questions arise about the beautiful, irreverent or questionable works of graffiti artists:

Where is the line between freedom of expression and respect for public space? How can we find a balance between the need for artistic expression and the need to preserve the architecture and history of cities?

Graffiti artists want to be heard, because in the midst of the adrenaline of the profession, they are the protagonists of stories that deserve to be seen; they want their art to be recognized and exalted.
