Companies that are in the process of shifting to using 3D printing as a production technology can switch to GrabCAD Print Pro. Stratasys announces this new software. Among other things, the Riven QA software is integrated in this. The Pro edition is also open to third-party plug-ins, such as Castor and AlphaStar.
Stratasys has pointed it out before. GrabCAD Print is an important product for the 3D printer manufacturer. This is further emphasized with the release of the GrabCAD Print Pro software. “Our customers are increasingly extending the implementation of 3D printing from prototyping to manufacturing end-use parts, where consistent quality and process efficiency are really essential. This new next-generation software is designed to help them achieve their current and future business goals and enable them to significantly and rapidly scale their additive manufacturing capabilities,” said Rich Garrity, Chief Industrial Business Officer.
Quality Assurance integrated into print preparation software
The new features of the Pro edition
The Pro version of the software is specifically intended for companies that are scaling up with 3D printing and are busy producing parts. The print preparation software ensures, among other things, better quality, less waste and shorter lead time. For example, the Warp Additive Model automatically corrects for warping by scanning the first part and then correcting for the deviation. Users can also create standardized templates. This allows them to program future builds faster. With the GrabCAD Print Pro, in combination with the SAF printers, unique codes can be programmed, labels generated and nested. The latter is done with 3D Array, a part of the software for correctly stacking parts in the Z direction. This reduces the printing time. Riven’s quality assurance software is also integrated in the Pro version. Stratasys acquired this software developer last year.
Plugins from Castor and AlphaStar
Another new feature is that Stratasys allows third-party plug-ins to the GrabCAD Pro platform. Plug-ins from Castor and AlphaStar are offered first. Castor is software that makes it easy to identify parts that are suitable for 3D printing. “Through this partnership, we are enabling more manufacturers to seamlessly integrate Castor into their design and manufacturing platforms to more easily identify additive manufacturing opportunities,” said Omer Blaier, co-founder and CEO of Castor. AlphaStar develops software to analyze tool paths and print parameters. In addition, the software can be used to simulate the thermal process. This contributes to better design cycles and higher product quality with fewer iterations.
Stratasys offers the GrabCAD Print Pro software as a service. Initially this is for the SAF and FDM printers. For more information regarding Stratasys products in the Benelux, please contact Seido-Systems.
