Komoot mapping is making its debut in Garmin GPS bike computers and watches, adding optimized navigation, particularly for cyclists.
Appreciated by cyclists, runners and hikers, the Komoot app has been introduced into Garmin devices via the latter’s Connect IQ application store. An application which already allowed you to import Komoot routes to navigate with your watch or GPS meter, but then using the latter’s mapping, or by limiting yourself to turn-by-turn guidance.
Komoot has decided to go further with the latest update of its app for Garmin devices and therefore adds map transfer. Concretely, we therefore benefit from Komoot’s own cartography, with its points of interest, its routes and its own colors.
However, you must be a Komoot Premium subscriber to benefit from it (€29.99 the first year then €59.99/year therefollowing). A free trial period is nevertheless offered until January 7, in order to try this new functionality on your Garmin device.
Routes recalculated without interruption via the app
Once the route has been launched from the Komoot app on the watch or the computer, simply let yourself be guided, the route being specifically designed to be clearly visible during outdoor activities.
In the event that we decide to modify our route, to stop in a place not initially planned, for example, simply modify the route from the Komoot app on our smartphone. Synchronization is then done with the Garmin device, without interrupting navigation or recording activity.
The map for Garmin watches that do not have one
If owners of an Edge computer or a Garmin Forerunner series 9, Fenix and Epix watch can be satisfied with the integrated Garmin mapping, those who do not have the leisure to benefit from mapping on their device will still find no more interest in this cartography by Komoot. It certainly requires a subscription, but gives watches such as the Venu, Vivoactive and Forerunner series 2 GPS navigation previously reserved for higher models.

The Komoot app can be downloaded for free to take advantage of the free trial period until January 7. Once the route has been created or chosen from those offered by the app, simply send it to your Garmin device, then launch the Komoot app on it following synchronization. What we are going to do right now, since we have bikes to test!
