Workers resort to union action

Vienna (OTS) In view of the amendment to the school laws presented today, which would bring massive deterioration for employees, the leisure educators in several companies are planning warning strikes for June 15, 2023. The ÖGB gave the go-ahead for the strike today, Tuesday. ++++

“Employees will not stand idly by as their training and working conditions deteriorate. The trade union GPA supports the strikes of the workers at institutions such as ‘Bildung im Zentrum’ with full solidarity. This immature shoddy-botch draft belongs in the bin, the negotiations back to the start,” says Barbara Teiber, chairwoman of the GPA trade union.

The trade unionist explains: “Neither employees, nor the works council or union were involved in the amendment. The inferior quality of the draft law shows that people from outside the field were obviously at work here. Instead of finally adopting effective measures once morest inflation, the government is dealing with the deterioration of working conditions in leisure time education. Off topic!”

“It is more than understandable that the workers are now taking action once morest the unions. Statements such as those made by the green education spokeswoman Sibylle Hamann that strikes would be ‘sad and irresponsible’ are dispensable,” said Teiber.
