Goya Prize for Spanish Cinema: the film “El buen patron” wins six awards

The film ‘El buen patron’ (The good boss) was the big winner of the Goya award, Spain’s equivalent of the Oscars for cinema.

This squeaky tragicomedy regarding capitalism has earned Javier Bardem the award for best actor. He dedicated this Goya to his wife, Penelope Cruz: “I want to dedicate this award to Penelope who is the woman I love, respect, admire and celebrate every day.”

“El buen patron” scooped up six awards in total, including Best Director for “Fernando Leon de Aranoa”a former screenwriter who had already won an award in 2002 for the film “Mondays in the Sun”, in which Javier Bardem also played the central role.

Finally, note that the prize for best actress was awarded to White Portillo for her role as the widow of a victim of the Basque separatist organization ETA in the film “Maixabel”.
