Govt turns bulldozer on famous Indian actor’s convention center – World

The convention center of famous South Indian film actor Nagarjuna was demolished as it was classified as encroachment. The actor has termed this act completely illegal.

Akkineni Nagarjuna built a magnificent convention center in Hyderabad (Deccan), the capital of the southern Indian state of Telangana. The city administration said that the convention center was built by occupying 1.12 acres of land of a pond called Tamedikanta.

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) carried out the demolition. This agency is demolishing every building illegally constructed on government land in the entire city of Hyderabad.

Nagarjuna Convention Center is spread over 10 acres. Officials say that irregularities were found in the construction of the convention center. Officials claim that the pond land was also cleared for the construction of the convention center. 2 acres were also confiscated from the buffer zone of the lake.
