The Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, said today, Friday, that the conclusion of an agreement with the International Monetary Fund is a “positive event for Lebanon,” stressing that this agreement will contribute to unifying the exchange rate of the national currency.

Salameh said in an interview with “Archyde.com”: “Concluding an agreement at the level of experts with the IMF is a positive event for Lebanon, and the bank cooperated with the Fund and facilitated its mission.”

The Governor of the Banque du Liban expressed his hope that “the preconditions set by the IMF will be met to obtain the approval of the Fund Council on the program.”

Ramirez Rigo, who headed the IMF delegation to Lebanon, said that if the plan is approved by the fund’s management and board, the aid sent to Lebanon will fall within the framework of “supporting the reform authorities’ plan to restore growth and financial stability.”
