Governor Luna hands over new weightlifting gym in Maturín

This Tuesday, July 9, the governor Ernesto Luna inaugurated the new Weightlifting Gym to benefit more than 30 athletes who are part of the Weightlifting Association in the state of Monagas.

In this way, the regional leader handed over a new space in the Maturín Sports Complex, with the aim of continuing to promote this discipline in the entity.

“This is a commitment I made to the weightlifting athletes. We want to recognize all the effort and discipline of these boys, who are currently the undefeated champions in national and international competitions.”said the Governor.

The head of the regional government stressed that this work is part of the comprehensive rehabilitation project that, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, is being carried out progressively at the Sports Center.

«We are constantly adding new spaces that allow us not only to provide comfort, but also to guarantee the proper sports practice to form champions who exalt the good name of my Monagas soul»he said.

Weightlifting coach Robson Pérez congratulated Governor Luna for all the renovation work he is doing at the Sports Complex and thanked him for including this discipline among the favored areas.

“Our weightlifting athletes deserve this new space, which dignifies them and we are sure that thanks to them we will continue to add medals to our state.”he indicated.

In turn, athlete Wiliandris Caldera, representing all her colleagues in this discipline, acknowledged the great efforts of the president to improve the conditions for sports practice.

“You kept your word, Governor, and that makes us very happy, because with this support we gain more momentum to bring back more medals in each competition in which we represent Monagas and Venezuela.”he indicated.

New construction

The new Weightlifting Gym included the execution of comprehensive works to adapt this discipline, such as: cladding and painting of the walls, construction of bathrooms for men and women, installation of the lighting system and the electrical control panel, as well as the placement of rubber floor covering.

They also maintained the green areas, built the bench slabs and installed the perimeter fence.
