Governor Gaviria asked Petro for “emphasis” on Magdalena Middle, East and Northeast. Why?

The first official visit of Gustavo Petro as president, to Antioquia, was the ideal occasion for the department to show its priorities and expectations during the initial stage of the president.

Along these lines, the Governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria, asked the Head of State for coordinated work on security matters, especially in three subregions.

Its regarding Middle Magdalena, the East and the Northeastwhere an increase in homicides has been observed.

Gaviria entrusted Petro, above all, to put the magnifying glass on the Northeast.

“We are ready to always work in an articulated manner in the region of the Northeast, where we have and have maintained a trend of increasing homicide”, said the governor.

Despite these situations, he mentioned that so far this year there have been 1,268 homicides in the department, which correspond to a decrease of 10.8% compared to the 1,421 suffered in the same period last year.

Gaviria also spoke regarding the climate emergency that Antioquia has suffered in recent months and described that during his government 592,000 affected people have come forward for this reason.

The governor advocated the protection of social leaders and combat child malnutrition in this area of the country.
