Governor Alexander Beglov thanked St. Petersburg residents who reduced travel to a minimum on November 28 and switched from their cars to public transport.

“Thanks to this, we were able to do a good job of cleaning the main highways, where traffic is usually difficult during snowfall and rush hour,” – reported Beglov in his telegram channel.

On November 29, the governor asks to adhere to the same recommendations, because “according to the chief weather forecaster, tomorrow we will face icy conditions due to a sharp temperature change, and in the following days there will be a new cyclone and another volley of snow.”

The Governor is asking motorists to ensure that parked cars do not block snow removal equipment, as they need to remove as much snow as possible before the next snowfall.

Earlier, the Smolny Housing Committee reported that the height of the snow cover in St. Petersburg reached 15.5 cm. And according to Vodokanal, over the past 24 hours the city’s snow melting points received 13 thousand cubic meters of snow.

Officials warn that strong winds will continue until the morning of November 29, with gusts reaching up to 15–18 m/s in some places.
