Government’s order to open government and semi-government offices at 6 am, public concern

The Iranian government’s decision to change the summer office hours in the government and semi-government sectors has been strongly resented by the public.

The Tehran government had issued a new office schedule for the summer, ordering employees to report to offices at 6 a.m. The Iranian government believes that this decision will help save energy.

Expressing severe criticism and anger on the Iranian government’s decision, it is being said that the government has disappointed both classes by changing the working hours of employees and workers in the summer.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said in a cabinet meeting yesterday that convincing public opinion about the goals and consequences of this decision is an important and effective matter to keep the people with its implementation. He directed the government agencies to satisfy the public opinion regarding the decision to change the working hours.

According to the report, Iranian civil servants have been instructed to work from 6 am to 1 pm, before they had to start work at 7 or 8 am depending on the department.

Iran’s office hours have been changed for June and July, with business hours returning to normal in August.

The new working hours in Iran also conflict with other sectors. Transportation by Tehran subway starts at 4:30 am while private transport starts at 5:30 am.
