Government will leave a legacy of infrastructure works and increase in health capacity

Asunción, IP Agency.- In the last four and a half years, the National Government has carried out important infrastructure works, which include 3,800 new kilometers of paved roads and the construction of two new international bridges, which are added to the increase in the response capacity of the health system.

The President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, He shared a video on his social networks with the main achievements during his government administration since August 2018.

Among the infrastructure works are the thousands of kilometers of new routes, which enabled 30 municipalities in the country have full-time paths for the first time.

As regards bridges, the works of the Héroes del Chaco Bridge were undertaken, close to completion between Asunción and Chaco’i, added to two new international bridges with Brazil: the Integration Bridge in Alto Paraná, already completed and awaiting the complementary works for its authorization to vehicular traffic, and the Bioceanica Bridge, which will allow the road connection throughout the Chaco territory.

This last bridge is part of the package of works carried out in Chaco, special emphasis on government administration. This includes the rehabilitation works of the Transchacho Route, the rehabilitation of the PY05 Route between Pozo Colorado and Concepción, and the qualification of the aqueduct for the Central Chaco.

Added to this are the Bi-Oceanic Road Corridor, which has already enabled its first section of more than 500 kilometers -which represents the first paved route in the department of Alto Paraguay-, and the works of the “Ruta de la Leche”, between Cruce Pioneros and Douglas Crossing.

In the Eastern Region, they are being developed on the same scale, such as the coastal defense of the city of Pilar, which already records 93% progress to provide a definitive solution to the floods in the capital of Ñeembucú, to which is added the project in design for an international bridge with Argentina in this part of the country.

Strengthening of the health system

The audiovisual material also highlighted the strengthening of the health system in Paraguay, which tripled the number of intensive care beds in four years.

With the covid-19 pandemic, a rapid response was given through more than 30 contingency pavilions, and the subsequent construction of oxygen plants in hospitals throughout the country, which to date add up to 41 enabled.

The increase in intensive care beds means a «historical legacy» that his government will leave in response to the deficits found in the health system when he took office, said President Mario Abdo Benítez, during the recent authorization of a new unit of the Social Welfare Institute (IPS).

During his Government, the pension inaugurated 20 new units. At the Ministry of Health level, 2,255 Family Health Units (USF) were set up throughout the country and major works began on the Southern General Hospital (in Encarnación) and the Coronel Oviedo General Hospital.

Paraguay’s response to the covid-19 pandemic was highlighted by other presidents of the region, such as Ivan Duque of Colombiaand made it possible for the country to be among the least economically affected and currently enjoy the “better economic climate” of the region, according to the Getulio Vargas Foundation, and the improvement in your financial outlook from Moody’s (from “stable” to “positive”), following 7 years and in a context of economic recovery.
