Government to provide humanitarian aid to flood-affected Pakistan and Sudan

The South Korean government announced that it would provide humanitarian aid worth US$300,000 (regarding 400 million won) and US$100,000 to Pakistan and Sudan, where large-scale flooding occurred.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 29th, in Pakistan since June, continuous heavy rains have killed more than 1,000 people and injured 1,500. About 350 of the deaths are children.

About 50,000 houses were destroyed by the flood, and it is said that 33 million people were affected by the flood. In this regard, the Pakistani government declared a national emergency on the 25th.

On the other hand, in Sudan, record-breaking torrential rain fell compared to the previous year, damaging 43,000 houses and causing 150,000 flood victims. Another 83 people died and 30 others were injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We hope that this support will help the people of Pakistan and Sudan as soon as possible to stabilize their lives and restore the damaged areas.”
