Asunción, IP Agency.- The Government’s disbursement of 1.2 billion guaraníes was announced by San Lorenzo Mayor Felipe Salomón during the presentation of the construction project of the new Mita Róga Care Space, which will shelter 150 children, children of street vendors in San Lorenzo.
With this investment, the “Mitá Róga” Care Space of the Abrazo Program, located near the San Lorenzo Municipal Market, will be converted into a model center for direct care of girls, boys and adolescents.
The remodeling is promoted by the Ministry of Children and Adolescents, together with the Municipality of San Lorenzo.
The project presentation event, this Thursday, included the participation of the First Lady of the Nation, Leticia Ocampos.
“Today we are going to receive 1,200 million guaraníes in two payments, of which we already received 600 million guaraníes and later, the remaining 600 million. The municipality will also invest almost 1.3 billion guaraníes for the completion of this beautiful work,” highlighted the mayor of San Lorenzo, Felipe Salomón.
He indicated that with this “a years-long fight today becomes a reality.” «We are going to have a center that will receive more than 150 children, it will have a classroom for the training and training of mothers and their children. “Today the beautiful project begins that will provide help, love, food and training not only to the children, but also to their mothers, who are street vendors,” she added.
He recalled that the infrastructure of the premises is more or less 40 years old and this system has been working for approximately 22 years. “It started with regarding 25 children, children of officials from the Municipality of San Lorenzo, then the program grew and reached almost 150 children.”
He added that “the premises were no longer suitable and therefore, with the planning team we analyzed a new program, a new construction, in order to strengthen the childhood and adolescent system.”
He expressed his gratitude to President Santiago Peña and the First Lady for the investment destined to the restructuring of the building that will house the children of women who are street vendors in the area.
“We ratify our commitment to strengthening the childhood and adolescent system and today we are going to receive a very important donation. I want to thank the President of the Republic who gave the approval and the last signature was from the First Lady,” he pointed out.
Children in care of government-strengthened systems
He reported that they will also acquire a minibus to gather children who are on the street, in order to be delivered to protection spaces strengthened by the Government.
In that sense, he pointed out “we are going to look for a minibus that will travel during the day, night and early morning to look for the children who are on the street, in order to be delivered to the different systems that the government is strengthening today.”
They will replicate the system in the neighborhoods
On the other hand, he stressed that the child protection programs will be replicated in the different neighborhoods of the community. “We have projects that include the Kunu’uy Abrazo programs, and I am sure that this system will be replicated in the different neighborhoods of San Lorenzo,” she said.
He emphasized that they will have a Center that will function with classrooms for the training of children and their mothers.
