Government tenders second phase of the Pilar Coastline with an estimated investment of US$ 50 million

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Government of Paraguay, through the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC), launched this Friday the call for tenders for the works of the second phase of the Costanera de Pilar, which will require an approximate investment of 50 million dollars.

“Today, August 23, the terms and conditions for Phase B of the Costanera de Pilar, 50 million dollars, one of the most important projects tendered so far this year of Government, were published,” announced the Minister of MOPC, Claudia Centurión, at the central event of the work day that President Santiago Peña is carrying out in the capital of Ñeembucú.

Centurión said that the project will be financed with local funds and that the expectation is to begin work at the end of the year or in the first quarter of next year.

He explained that this Phase B “will resolve the entire sewage system, storm drain, treatment plant and its operation, and replace all the drinking water pipes that have been left aside in the first phase.”

Within the framework of the tender, the date for submission of bids by companies interested in carrying out the work is set for September 13. Other details of the call are available at website of the National Directorate of Public Procurement.

Pilar as a logistics centre in the south through several works

In her speech, the Minister of the MOPC stated that the works promoted by the Government of President Santiago Peña will “land with everything” in the department, seeking to position the city of Pilar as a logistics center in the south of the country.

In this regard, he announced that the works for the maintenance of the Villeta-Alberdi section have been awarded, with an investment of 15 million dollars, and that for the first half of 2025, progress will be made with phase C of the Costanera, with resources already secured.

He also announced that the MOPC will soon present to the Ministry of Economy and Finance the project for a paved road on the Pilar-Humaitá section, 34 kilometers long, with an investment of 20 million dollars.

“Another transformative work for the entire Ñeembucú is the integration corridor, which will come from Misiones to Pilar, parallel to the Paraná River, to connect an entire logistics system in the southern region of the country,” he said.

Finally, the minister stated that the Government’s vision for Pilar is for it to become one of the most important logistics cities in our country.

“We are going to arrive from the north, from the southeast and we are sure that within our government we are going to start the construction of the Pilar-Puerto Cano bridge so that Ñeembucú really grows with this vision of being a great logistics center in the south of our country,” he concluded.
