The Prime Minister announced, this Thursday, that next week the Council of Ministers will adopt measures to support families and the economy, which will be presented on Friday and “calibrated according to the final data of the 2022 budget execution”. “.
“Regarding other support outside the housing universe, next week the Council of Ministers will adopt measures that will be presented on Friday and that will be calibrated according to the final data of the 2022 budget execution”, said António Costa, at the press conference following the meeting of the Council of Ministers in Lisbon.
The prime minister underlined that the “final design” of these measures “depends” on the data on the 2022 budget execution that will be known next week.
“Next week, when we already know the final figures for last year’s budget execution, we will have an idea of what is the margin of, as we always said, being able to support families and the economy more depending on the needs and the evolution of the situation” , he stated.
The prime minister was also questioned regarding the PSD’s proposals in relation to housing that were approved on Wednesday through the PS’s abstention (four bills and a resolution), which include measures such as the flexibility of licensing, support for renting , State guarantees to help younger people purchase and generalized tax relief in the sector.
Costa said he saw with “great satisfaction” the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party “abstaining, making these initiatives viable” so that they can pass to the specialty stage.
“And that in the specialty we can all compete for a desirable result, which is to have a stable framework in terms of housing legislation that allows resolving a situation that, even those who legislated for the deregulation of the housing market, now recognize that it needs regulation. And we can only be satisfied with the broadening of that consensus,” he replied.

Asked regarding the President of the Republic’s warning regarding concepts that may be not very dense in the diplomas on housing, António Costa limited himself to recalling the progress of the legislative process and “the competences” of the Head of State in this process, which include “the possibility of requesting preventive inspection of constitutionality” and of politically vetoing”.
