The government will present an anti-inflation package on Wednesday. The details are still unknown. Social Minister Johannes Rauch wants, as he announced in the ORF “Report”, an energy package that will be decided before the summer and will take effect in the autumn before the next heating situation. So far, energy companies have hardly passed on the falling wholesale prices for electricity and gas to end customers. The energy prices are a useful lever to achieve inflation-dampening effects and to relieve households directly, the chancellery said on Tuesday evening.

Measures also for food

Measures once morest the high food prices should go much faster. According to reports, these should be set in order to make food chains more responsible. The Chancellery pointed out that in the fight once morest inflation, Austria had so far pursued the strategy of supporting growth, strengthening purchasing power and keeping unemployment low. Austria is therefore among the best in the world when it comes to prosperity. In terms of purchasing power, Austria ranks fourth in Europe and has a very low unemployment rate, and the youth unemployment rate is the third lowest in the EU.

The government recently came under pressure following no tangible results might be presented at a food summit. Apparently these are now being delivered.
