Government prepares new single lane and night bus project

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Along with the bill seeking to reform the public transport system, the government has short-term measures to improve service, such as the implementation of a new single lane for buses, the construction of new stops and a project for 24-hour transport service.

The Deputy Minister of Transportation of the MOPC, Emiliano Fernández, indicated that the objective of having buses during the night and early morning hours would be implemented on routes with a higher frequency of nighttime activities.

In about two to three months, it is expected that the night bus service can be implemented. “People must be given certainty that they can return home by bus,” he said in conversation with government spokesperson Paula Carro, where he provided more information. details on the bill.

Added to this is the Vice Ministry’s project to implement a new single lane for buses, which will go from the National University of Asunción (UNA) to Avda. Madame Lynch, on the Mariscal Estigarribia Route.

Fernández pointed out the importance of prioritizing the public transport service, which should be accompanied by a greater frequency of buses. To this end, it is planned to incorporate 1,000 units in the next four years, while in the next few months the 30 electric buses donated by Taiwan will arrive, which will also be incorporated into the system.

Another short-term measure involves the construction of bus stops that provide greater security on the main avenues leading into the capital. These will be located 400 meters apart, and together with the single lanes, will allow for greater fluidity in the transit of passenger buses.

Measures will be worked on with the Municipality of Asunción to speed up traffic, such as coordinating traffic lights, widening turns and docking processes to prioritize.
