According to the sources, a plan has been prepared to give a big relief to the citizens on the instructions of the Prime Minister, for the new package, the subsidy per kg on chickpeas and broken rice has been increased from Rs 25 to Rs 100, while the subsidy on ghee has been increased from Rs 70 to Rs 100 per kg. is recommended.

Under the package, the subsidy on sugar will also be increased on a per kg basis, while the current model of subsidy on flour is proposed to be maintained.

Sources further said that the summary of the Prime Minister’s new package on utility stores has been sent to the ECC, the new model of the Prime Minister’s package will be implemented following the approval of the ECC and the federal cabinet. It is proposed to apply from August 1.

Monthly fixed charges of Rs 200 to Rs 1000 have been imposed on electricity consumers, the basic tariff has increased by Rs 7.12.

In this regard, the sources say that the Prime Minister’s relief package announced in the budget might not be implemented from July 1. Until the new package is implemented, the current Prime Minister’s package will be continued.

Officials say that under the Prime Minister’s package, 5 basic commodities are being subsidized at utility stores, sugar, ghee, flour, rice, pulses are being subsidized to Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) users.
