Asunción, IP Agency.- This Monday the five towers that make up the new Government Offices in the Asunción Bay area were officially enabled. They will house 6,500 officials from six State entities and it is estimated that close to 10,000 people will circulate daily through the area.
The President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez participated this Monday in the fitting out of the new headquarters of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the National Customs Directorate (DNA), in the Government Buildings, built by the Government National with funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
With an investment of close to USD 84 million, the five towers of the Government Offices were carried out today, which will house a total of 6,500 Customs officials, the Ministries of Public Works, Education and Sciences, Urban Planning, Housing and Habitat. , Labor, Employment and Social Security; and the Undersecretary of State for Taxation. The works that have 28,000 square meters were in charge of the TBI Consortium.
These new offices will generate savings in rentals for the DNA of G. 1,200 million, while the MOPC estimates savings close to G. 2,000 million.
At the opening of the event, the director of Customs, Julio Fernández, stated that since last Friday, public servants of the institution under his charge have been serving the public in the new offices. “There is already full activity, there is already life in this place,” he stressed.
He added that with this authorization there are a series of advantages such as the concentration of activities, since the DNA offices were dispersed and now they will be concentrated only in the Asunción Bay area.
He also said that a space was set up for the Dispatchers Center and a place has been made available to the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP) in order to work together and closely with the private sector.
He also said that the place has ample parking spaces for both officials and citizens who come to the place to carry out their procedures.
Finally the Minister of Public Works, Rodolfo Segovia explained that, for the construction of the towers were employed more than 1,000 people directly in charge of the company Consorcio TBI composed of three Paraguayan companies, Tecnoedil SA, Alberto Barrail e Hijos. SA and Itasã SA, and the inspection was conducted by the company Edificaciones SA.
