The director of the Provincial Office for Integrated Economic Development, Pedro Gingi, yesterday warned economic operators not to speculate on the prices of products during the festive season, under penalty of incurring irregularities and fines.
This measure applies, above all, to the components of the basic food basket, taking into account their demand during the Christmas and New Year period, due to the tendency for prices to increase at this time.
The person in charge made this appeal at the end of a visit carried out by the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) in some commercial establishments in Malanje to verify the conditions available to the public and the prices charged.
He warned that agents who speculate on prices will be sanctioned with serious disciplinary measures and heavy fines, having warned businesspeople to regularize their tax situation and other situations subject to penalties.
He considered that current prices are reasonable and some are accessible, due to the inspection carried out by ANIESA, and urged the population to denounce acts of speculation and other violations linked to service and products.
However, the manager of the Nossa Casa commercial establishment, Manuel Lourenço, guaranteed the existence of sufficient food items to meet demand during and following the festive season, and also ensured compliance with the measures defined by the Government for this period.
In turn, the manager of the Pomobel supermarket, Neidy José da Silva, said that in terms of stocks, especially food and other products in demand due to Christmas and New Year, the unit is also stocked to meet customer needs.
