[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Choi Hyun-min = Due to the unilateral strike of the railroad union that began on the 14th, concerns are being raised regarding damage to the industry due to inconvenience to the public and a decrease in railroad traffic. Accordingly, the government plans to cooperate with related organizations to minimize damage.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 15th, the freight train operation status on the 14th was 40 times a day, 22,000 tons. Considering that the normal volume is 160 times per day and 83,000 tons, this is a significant decrease.
In order to minimize such damage, the government and the Korea Railroad Corporation informed transport companies of train operation plans, advance transport plans, and conversion to overland transport immediately following the strike was announced.
To prevent confusion in the industry due to the current strike, we are establishing a hotline with transportation companies to inform them of changes in operation plans and take action on company suggestions, and are actively considering ways to temporarily increase transportation capacity when the strike ends.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to closely cooperate with related organizations such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and related associations to minimize industrial damage in case the strike is prolonged.
