Government launches tender for paving sections in Alto Paraná, Itapúa and Caazapá

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Government launched National Public Tender No. 87/2024 for the rehabilitation and asphalt paving of 127.7 kilometers of road sections that will benefit more than 90,000 people in Alto Paraná, Itapúa and Caazapá.

The call, published on the Public Procurement portal with ID No. 453,106, is aimed at national companies, with the aim of improving connectivity in three key departments of the country.

The date established for the presentation of offers is Friday, October 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Single Entry Table of the Central building of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).

About the project

This new package of works, which is divided into six lots and has an estimated investment of G. 455,318,986,898, includes in Alto Paraná the expected asphalting of the Juan E’Oleary – San Cristóbal section with 62,286 km (3 lots); in Itapúa, San Rafael del Paraná district, the Naranjito section (junction of PY06 route) – Nueva Aurora – Colonia Santa Inés, of 27.5 km, and in Caazapá, the General Higinio Morínigo route – Caazapá, which covers 37.93 km (2 lots).

What is included in the works

The improvements planned in this call are not limited to simple paving, but rather take a comprehensive approach to improving road infrastructure. Among the established interventions are the asphalt paving of roads, the improvement of the drainage system with culverts and ditches, reinforced concrete bridges, the installation of vertical and horizontal signs, the placement of defense railings, and the execution of complementary works.

In the specifications and conditions detailed technical specifications are established for each lot, according to the conditions in which the section is located. For Lots 1, 2 and 3, a hydraulic macadam subbase, a stabilized granular base, and a 7 cm thick asphalt concrete rolling surface will be used. Lot 4 will have different characteristics, while Lots 5 and 6 will share similar specifications to the first three, with slight variations in the thickness of the asphalt layer.

This multi-year project, whose execution period comes into effect from the moment the start order is received and may be extended until 2027, seeks to solve accessibility and mobility problems in the region, facilitating connection with the main road corridors.

In addition to improving access to essential services for all these communities and districts involved in the three departments, whose population amounts to more than 90,000 inhabitants, according to the MOPC report.
