Yes some previous announcements had been madebut today the government presented the inclusive recovery plan. The extension of the labor IFE, aid to families and also the containment of fuel prices and a freezing of public transport prices were part of the axes contained in “Chile supports”. There are six axes that point to the recovery of formal jobs, help to sectors lagging behind due to the pandemic, and public investment.

In an activity in the commune of Maipú, President Gabriel Boric gave the details of this plan. It will cost US$3.7 billion.

“It contemplates the mobilization of resources for a total of US$3,700 million. There are more than US$1,300 million in direct contributions to the pockets of families. There are close to US$1,400 million in job creation and in support of lagging sectors. There are US$1,000 million in support for micro, small and medium-sized companies”, said President Gabriel Boric.

Likewise, the government aims to create 500 thousand new jobs, where at least half would be for women.

“We know that this recovery plan is a starting point. Great changes are not achieved overnight, and for them to be sustainable over time, they must be responsible in their implementation”, added the President.

plan measures

Freezing public transport fares: The panel of experts recommended raising public transport fares by $30, but the Executive made the decision to freeze prices throughout the country, and throughout the year. In this way, people from regions will also be included in this benefit.

“We have responsibly decided, in view of the living conditions of the majority of Chileans, that a greater effort must be made by the State so that these rates are frozen throughout the year,” said Boric.

Fuel price containment: They are going to inject special resources, which were not considered in Mepco, for more than US$20 million to curb the price of paraffin.

“Regarding gas, we are going to work to combat the abuses that make us pay more,” said the president.

Extension of the IFE until September: This employment subsidy will be maintained for a few more months, to support job creation.

Wide coverage IFE: they are going to send a bill this in case of serious sanitary restrictions.

minimum salary: the government aims to raise the minimum wage to $400 thousand this year.

“We are going to introduce a bill to significantly increase the minimum wage. Our goal is to reach $400,000 this year, and there we have to worry regarding supporting small businesses, so that no one is left behind,” said Boric.

Subsidy protects: it will be maintained for women who have children under two years of age, so that they can reintegrate into the labor market.

Support to MSMEs: it was decided to end with capacity in cultural shows in the new green phase and that will come into operation from April 14.
