Burkina: Government launches operation to support vulnerable people
Ouagadougou, August 13, 2022 (AIB)- The President of Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba chaired, this Friday in Ouagadougou, the official launch of the free distribution operation of food and cash transfer for the benefit of vulnerable populations and internally displaced persons in our country.
According to the President of Faso, this operation is a testimony of solidarity to all vulnerable people but also to displaced people in cities and in the countryside.
It reflects “our commitment to support and help internally displaced persons and vulnerable people in this period which is quite hard for them and for the country”, maintained the Head of State.
This government operation, with the support of its partners in the national food security system, will provide food support for 3,376,782 people, including 1,537,232 cash transfer recipients and 1,839,550 for the free distribution of food.
With a total cost of more than 61 billion FCFA, “this operation is the concrete translation of a strong commitment by the President of Faso that the government is implementing”, declared Prime Minister Albert Ouédraogo.
As part of the execution of the Transition Action Plan, this initiative “aims to respond in a consistent and effective manner to the humanitarian crisis we are experiencing, with a view to strengthening the basis of the resilience of our populations”, said underlined the head of government.
The representative of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Delphine Sourwema expressed the gratitude of vulnerable people to the highest authorities of Burkina Faso.
According to her, “this operation reminds us that our country has not forgotten those who call for help. She comes to relieve our suffering and help us to keep our dignity”.
