The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will hold this Thursday, 30th, the official launch ceremony of the 1st investor forum for the Angolan region of Okavango, to present the potential and existing business opportunities
The forum also aims to bring together national and foreign investors to exchange experiences among investors operating in tourism in the Okavango cross-border region. In July, during his visit to Botswana, President João Lourenço announced that the first Investor Forum for the Angolan region of Okavango would be held in 2023, “which represents a great opportunity” for large investors operating in the Delta. Okavango to understand the potential and business opportunities.
He highlighted, at the time, that Angola defined tourism as a priority sector in its economic diversification strategy, which involves taking advantage of the tourist potential of the Angolan Okavango region.
The head of state added that Angola is working on the Angolan component of Okavango, and a multisectoral group has been created to analyze and inventory wildlife and land resources, to overcome all the constraints that conditioned Angola’s full participation in this commendable initiative.
On the 10th of this month, during the inauguration of the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, João Lourenço said that the Government is evaluating the construction of two new airports in the provinces of Cuando Cubango and Moxico, east of the country, which are part of the tourism project Okavango/Zambezi.
The President said that Angola is committed to developing tourism in the Okavango/Zambezi area, and is “very seriously considering the possibility of building the Mavinga (Cuando Cubango) and Cazombo (Moxico) airports”. “All this taking into account the great tourist potential that the Okavango/Zambezi region has in these two provinces”, he highlighted.
