Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema is crowned the best player in the world for the 2021-2022 season, for the first time in his career.
Real Madrid’s French player Karim Benzema was crowned, today, Monday, with the award for the best player in the world, for the 2021-2022 season, awarded by “France Football” magazine.
Benzema won the Golden Ball for the first time in his career, beating Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who finished second, and Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich, who finished third.
Benzema led his Real Madrid team to achieve three local and continental titles (La Liga, Champions League, Spanish Super), and was crowned with the French national team the European Nations League title.
Last season, Benzema contributed 66 goals in 56 games, scoring 50 of them, providing his teammates with 16 assists, and an estimated goal-scoring rate of one goal every 71 minutes he played.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski retained the “Gerd Muller” award as the best scorer following scoring 57 goals last season, and Manchester City was named the best club.
Barcelona’s Alexia Botías won the Women’s Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois won the Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper last season.
Barcelona player Gavi won the “Copa” award as the best young player last season.
Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich received the first edition of the “Socrates Award”, which is presented to players active in the field of humanitarian services.
