In a decision that generated controversy, the Government carried out the eighth budget modification of the year, increasing public spending by $7.65 trillion. As a result, the deficit in the public accounts grew more than 37%.
Through Necessity and Urgency Decree (DNU) 436/2023, published in the Official Gazette, the measures to expand items from various jurisdictions and entities of the National Public Sector were announced. The objective of this budget modification was to address expenses that cannot be postponed for the normal functioning of the institutions.
This last change involved an increase in current and financial spending of $7.65 trillion, with a total of 677 payrolls involved in the actionon. If all spending authorizations are carried out, the budget deficit would close the year at $9.08 trillion. This figure represents a 37.1% increase from the previous guideline of $6.62 trillion.
The area in which more resources were allocated, according to the DNU, includes items for the payment of retirement and pensions, the Teacher Incentive Fund, the increase in remuneration in public administration and debt service. Some of the most significant assignments are:
