Asunción, IP Agency.- During a work day with authorities from the department of Misiones, the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Claudia Centurión, announced the order to start the “Route of Progress” in this part of the country.
“Today, on the anniversary of Saint John the Baptist, we come to give the starting order, the kick-off for this work called the Route of Progress. There are approximately fifty kilometers of asphalt road that will connect the PY01 with the PY04 route, generating a different situation and many development opportunities for the entire department of Misiones,” said the minister.
Centurión highlighted that this is a victory for missionary citizens. “They have been fighting for this path for more than 20 years and today with great pride we come to say that it is a reality, with the contractors who are already setting up their camps and have a two-year deadline for its execution,” he pointed out.
For his part, the governor of Misiones, Richard Ramírez, said he was happy for the minister’s presence. “The presence of the minister makes us very happy. As she pointed out before, she brought us hope, but now she is bringing us concrete facts,” stated the governor.
Later, he recalled the struggle to realize this dream of the missionaries: “This has a history that affected the health of many townspeople due to the dust that was produced; a story of friends from the Loma company who did not have peace of mind, a story of distance for a company like Cocueré, which is far from the community of San Juan Bautista, and who had to go through another district to get there; a story that will really produce a link between two departments: that of Ñeembucú and Misiones,” he commented.
Finally, he thanked President Santiago Peña and Minister Claudia Centurión for their efforts to achieve this project. “Happy, content and most of all grateful from the heart on behalf of the missionary people, because it is a work of great magnitude,” she concluded.
Working day
The Secretary of State and her team held a working meeting with 8 mayors of the 10 districts of the VIII Department, as well as more than departmental councilors.
On the occasion, he listened to the main needs of each city and then moved to the place where work on the new route will begin.
