Government gave order to start construction of the “Route of Progress”

Asuncion, IP Agency.- During a working day with authorities from the department of Misiones, the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Claudia Centurión, announced the order to start the “Ruta del Progreso” in this part of the country.

“Today, on the anniversary of San Juan Bautista, we have come to give the order to start, the initial kick-off for this work called Ruta del Progreso. It is approximately fifty kilometers of asphalt road that will link PY01 with route PY04, generating a different situation and many development opportunities for the entire department of Misiones,” said the minister.

Centurión stressed that this is a victory for the citizens of Misiones. “They have been fighting for this path for more than 20 years and today we are proud to say that it is a reality, with the contractors who are already setting up their camps and have two years to carry them out,” he said.

For his part, the governor of Misiones, Richard Ramírez, said he was happy with the presence of the minister. “We are very pleased with the presence of the minister. As I said before, she brought us hope, but now she is bringing us concrete facts,” said the governor.

He later recalled the struggle to make this missionaries’ dream a reality: “This has a history that affected the health of many of our fellow townspeople due to the dust produced; a history of friends of the Loma company who did not have peace of mind, a history of distance for a company like Cocueré, which is far from the community of San Juan Bautista, and that had to go through another district to get there; a history that will really produce a link between two departments: Ñeembucú and Misiones,” he commented.

Finally, he thanked President Santiago Peña and Minister Claudia Centurión for their efforts to achieve this project. “I am happy, content and, above all, grateful from the bottom of my heart on behalf of the people of Misiones, because it is a work of great magnitude,” he concluded.

The Secretary of State and her team held a working meeting with 8 mayors of the 10 districts of the VIII Department, in addition to departmental councilors.

On the occasion, he listened to the main needs of each city and then traveled to the place where work on the new route will begin.
