Government Forms Special Team for TPPO to Germany, Explores the Process of Sending Students – 2024-03-29 22:12:23

Coordinating MINISTER for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto will form a special team regarding the alleged crime of human trafficking (TPPO) under the guise of an internship program in Germany. The team consists of elements from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) to the National Police.

“Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Dirjen Diktiristek), then at the National Police Bareskrim, then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said Hadi when met at the Katerdal Church, Central Jakarta, Thursday (28/3).

Hadi said that his party would explore the process of sending these students. He noted that approximately 1,900 students were involved in TIP cases.

“So from these steps we will separate what is best to save the students,” he explained.

Hadi did not reveal when the first Timsus meeting took place. He said informal communication had been carried out.

“We have coordinated well with Dikti, both with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both with Bareskrim. We will determine later. We will identify the problem,” he explained.

A total of five people were named as suspects in this case. A total of two people are still in Germany who serve as internship program agents affiliated with PT SHB and PT CVGEN.

These two companies are the parties that socialized the German internship program to 1,047 students. Socialization was carried out at 33 universities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, three other suspects are in Indonesia and work at universities that send students to Germany. They are SS (men), 65); AJ (female), 52; and MZ (male), 60.

The suspects were charged under Article 4 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of TIP, with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison and a fine of IDR 600 million. Then Article 81 of Law No. 17 of 2017 concerning Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers. With a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum fine of IDR 15 billion. (Medcom/Z-6)
