THE GOVERNMENT strives to continue to accelerate the semiconductor industry ecosystem as an economic engine to support the achievement of the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. Therefore, policy makers have formed the Indonesian Semiconductor Task Force.
“This is to answer the needs of the semiconductor industry which is growing rapidly and to create a new economic growth engine for Indonesia,” said Deputy for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation Edi Prio Pambudi as Head of the Task Force Implementation Team while chairing the Kick-Off Meeting of the Semiconductor Ecosystem Preparation Task Force as quoted from a press release, Thursday (28/3).
“With collaboration and synergy from various parties, it is hoped that this Task Force can accelerate and encourage the realization of concrete cooperation in developing the semiconductor industry in Indonesia,” he continued.
The development of the semiconductor industry in Indonesia is believed to be able to increase productivity and competitiveness in various manufacturing sectors that require semiconductors, including electronics such as automotive devices (including electric vehicles), industry, household, communications, transportation, and medical equipment.
Edi added, the Semiconductor Task Force emphasizes the synergy of all stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive and sustainable strategy in creating a conducive business climate and encouraging investment in the semiconductor industry.
The inauguration of the Semiconductor Task Force was determined through Decree of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy (Kepmenko) 16/2024 concerning the Task Force for Preparing the Indonesian Semiconductor Ecosystem on January 4 2024.

The existence of the Task Force is also expected to be able to answer the challenges of digitalization which is currently bringing the world to a constellation of high demand for electronic products. Indonesia’s need for electronic products is also estimated to increase rapidly in line with the target of increasing per capita income in Indonesia’s 2045 vision.
In the journey towards developing the semiconductor industry in Indonesia, the need to increase human resources is very fundamental. Increasing the quality and quantity of human resources in the field of semiconductor technology in Indonesia is a top priority in order to maintain the competitiveness and independence of the country’s semiconductor industry.
By strengthening investment and attention to human resource development, the Semiconductor Task Force is determined to ensure that a skilled and qualified workforce is ready to support the sustainable and innovative growth of the semiconductor industry.
“Germany has extensive expertise and experience in the semiconductor industry, and we are ready to help students and experts in Indonesia to get training opportunities, further education and even internship opportunities at leading German semiconductor companies,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arief Havas Oegroseno.
