Government ensures continuation of the parent-child passport

A total of 19.75 million euros for increasing the tariffs of doctors

Vienna (OTS) The federal government ensures the continuation of the parent-child passport: A new proposal with additional funds for the doctors’ fees for examinations within the framework of the parent-child passport was accepted by the Austrian Medical Association on Friday.

The details: In addition to the 17 million euros that have already been decided, the government is now providing a further 2.75 million euros. 17 million euros have also been budgeted for the expansion of services. In total, the federal government and social insurance are investing 36.75 million euros to increase fees and expand services. This proposal was accepted today by the Austrian Medical Association.

Family Minister Susanne Raab: “I am pleased that we have now concluded the negotiations with the Medical Association to increase fees in a constructive manner and that this issue will no longer be dealt with at the expense of families and children. In addition to the 17 million euros already decided, we will make 2.75 million euros available for the increase in doctors’ fees. This is how we ensure the continuation of the parent-child pass and can quickly advance the process of expanding benefits.”

Health Minister Johannes Rauch: “Since it was introduced almost 50 years ago, the mother-child pass has enabled many children to grow up healthy. The agreement with the doctors ensures that all children will continue to receive the best care in the future. The extension to the parent-child pass with additional services is extremely important, especially for low-income families.”

Since it was introduced in 1974, the mother-child pass has been an important part of health care for families and children in Austria. Only recently did the government present the new, digital parent-child passport, which has been significantly expanded to include additional services. New to the program are, among other things, parental counseling, psychosocial counseling and an additional midwife consultation, an additional ultrasound examination and an additional hearing screening for newborns. Nutrition and health advice was also included.
