The hunt for thermal strainers remains on. According to The Parisian, the government is considering banning the sale of certain energy-intensive homes. A measure which was the subject of several notes and discussions as part of Élisabeth Borne’s working sessions around the future agenda on ecological planning that Emmanuel Macron will present this Monday, September 25. Energy renovation is in fact one of the ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Put constraints”
The ban on the sale of these real estate is in line with what Emmanuel Macron said to the journalist on the YouTube channel, “ Hugo Decrypts », September 4. Among other things, he suggested “putting constraints on certain owners who have homes that are no longer in good condition, where there is a lot of energy waste (…) And therefore when they sell them or change tenants , to have to do the work to make this change.”
The Climate and Resilience law of 2021 had already put in place a timetable for banning the rental of certain energy-intensive housing. All thermal strainers classified G (the best grade being A) according to the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) can no longer be rented from January 1, 2025. Those classified F in 2028, and E in 2034. The ban on sale (even if no date has yet been set) would, according to Le Parisien, follow this same principle.
