The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, confirmed this Thursday that Venezuela has agreed to receive an expulsion process from Chile, which will be carried out by air in the next two weeks.
Monsalve reported that the Ministry of Relations of the Government of Venezuela responded affirmatively through diplomatic channels, accepting a flight for the expulsion process during the first week of May.
The official highlighted the importance of establishing dialogues within the framework of the Brasilia Consensus, a regional integration mechanism established in 2023 and made up of 12 South American countries. These dialogues seek to guarantee pre-established flight plans, instead of requesting authorizations individually on each occasion.
“During the course of today, within the framework of the Brasilia ConsensusI hope to have dialogues that allow us to guarantee having flight plans and not just ask for authorizations every time a flight is necessary, but to have flight plans that may have a known itinerary, agreed, agreed,” said the undersecretary.
As detailed by Monsalve, it is planned to expel 150 Venezuelan citizens in the next process, which will begin next month. Given that up to 60 expellees can be transported on a charter flight, more than one trip will be required to complete the entire process. For this reason, the undersecretary requested the creation of the aforementioned “flight plans” for greater efficiency in these processes.
