This Thursday, the Government announced the presentation of a complaint for the kidnapping of Ronald Ojeda Moreno, a former military officer of Venezuelan nationality who lives in Chile.

“It seems to us that the complaint filed by the Government is always very important,” said the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, at a press conference.

According to Monsalve, the action is relevant, since it “gives a political signal that the Government is interested in ensuring that these cases do not remain unpunished” and allows the Executive to “become part of the proceedings.”

The undersecretary pointed out that during this day they held a meeting to inform President Gabriel Boric about the events and stated that the Government is open to “all hypotheses.”

He also explained that they have had contact with Venezuela at the diplomatic and police level. “Diplomatic efforts have been requested through the Chilean ambassador (…) and we must remember that there is collaboration between our police forces, so the Investigative Police (PDI) has already had contact with their counterparts.”

“The president considers this a priority. “There are a series of instructions that I am not going to detail because it is part of the private meeting with him, but he gave a series of instructions to both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he added.
