Today, Monday, it will be two years since the arrival of President Gabriel Boric to La Moneda, so the Government is preparing a territorial deployment in which each region of the country will be visited by at least one minister.
The President told his cabinet that the remaining two years of Government are not for making promises, but for fulfilling them. Along these lines, Boric explained that efforts will be put into approving the pension reform and the new fiscal pact.
However, from within the Executive they consider that the “intransigence” on the part of the right is an obstacle to carrying out their initiatives.
The Minister Spokesperson for the Government, Camila Vallejo, explained in Chilevisión that “we have to finally be able to say: let’s get out of the trenches, the constituent processes were a great lesson, that the trenches do not help move the country forward, they do not solve the problems and they do not They unblock the major political and institutional conflicts, and the trench position is not going to unblock an issue as sensitive as the issue of social security and pensions for current and future retirees.”
“So, we have to be able to collect that experience to not only convince how important dialogue is, but also understand that, if there are no agreements, the cost will not be for the Government or for the parliamentarians, the cost It is for the people,” added the Executive spokesperson.
Along the same lines, the head of the Socialist Party, deputy Daniel Manouchehri, explained that “the Government must carry out the pension reform and put special emphasis on economic growth, the strengthening of human capital, with education and the health and safety of people, that is where the focus must be.”
“The Government has a whole second period to make progress for the country, it has gone from less to more. It had a complex installation process, it has encountered intransigent opposition, which is only available discursively in the agreements, but in practice they do not move a millimeter from their positions. It is important for the country to move forward, and that will require that we all put the interests of the people first,” added the socialist legislator.
