THE GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) disbursed funds amounting to IDR 36 billion for the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) to support preparations for the 2024 Paris Paralympic qualifications.
A total of IDR 36 billion is allocated for 10 sports including para-weight lifting (Rp. 2.8 billion), para-athletics (Rp. 7.5 billion), para-badminton (Rp. 2.4 billion), para-swimming (Rp. 2.7 billion). billion), para-table tennis (Rp. 6.03 billion), para-boccia (Rp. 1.6 billion), para-cycling (Rp. 4 billion), para-shooting (Rp. 1.3 billion), para-archery (Rp. 4.4 billion ), and para-judo (Rp. 3 billion) including 51 athletes along with 10 coaches, 10 managers and 18 support staff.
A total of 10 sports have now undergone national training which started on January 1 with various ending times, the latest being August 31.
“Today we are very happy and appreciate the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee in the context of providing government assistance for national training in preparation for the 2024 Paris Paralympic qualifications,” said Dito as quoted by BetweenWednesday (6/3).
Dito said that providing this assistance was clear evidence of the government’s commitment to advancing sports in the country. With this assistance, he hopes that athletes’ achievements at the Paris Paralympics from August 28 to September 8 will also improve from the previous edition in Tokyo, Japan, where they won two gold, three silver and four bronze.
“This is concrete evidence of our commitment to improving sporting achievements in the country. With this collaboration, I am sure it will open up greater opportunities for Indonesian athletes to achieve brilliant achievements at international events, especially at the Paris Paralympics,” he said.

Currently, the NPC has approved 12 athletes who will appear at the Paris Paralympics, with details of four athletes from archery, two athletes from track and field, one athlete from cycling, two athletes from shooting, and three athletes from swimming.
“Our treatment from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, for both the Olympics and Paralympics, is the same, there must be one in particular also from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in terms of facilities it is also the same,” said the 33 year old man.
“I am very optimistic, I said earlier, God willing, the Indonesian contingent will be able to achieve better results at the Paris Paralympics,” he concluded. (Z-6)
