2023-12-24 17:30:12

THQ Nordic and studio Alkimia Interactive released the third episode of their podcast regarding Gothic Remake. This time, director Reinhard Pollis, composer Kai Rosenkrantz, art director Daniel Kandil, lead game designer Javi Untoria, cinematic designer Joan Planelles and community manager Timur “T-Moor” Khodyrev spoke regarding the game.

The developers did not report anything new regarding the release date of the remake, but summed up the results of 2023 and told a number of other information regarding the process of working on updating the cult Gothic. They promise to show us the gameplay in the near future, but it is unknown how soon this will happen.

The creators of the remake confirmed that they are working on supporting user modifications. At the same time, they reported that an analogue of the “Marvin mode” may appear in the new version. This is an in-game test mode that allows you to enter commands to control the game and interact with various game objects.

Contrary to rumors, Nameless will not become a customizable character; we will not be able to change the main character’s hairstyle or apply tattoos. But in the new version, the interactions between him and other characters will be deepened, they will be able to meet to jointly solve problems that arise.

The developers have assured that the Old Camp in the game will look exactly the same as in the trailer. Moreover, we will be able to encounter all the scenes shown during the passage, albeit in random order. And all the inhabitants of the Gothic world will wear unique, hand-crafted faces.

The hero’s hunting skills will be significantly expanded compared to the original, as they should become the basis of survival in the wild. To achieve this, new bonfires will appear in some places around the world where players can cook food. And for each type of weapon, a special animation has been prepared, and the movements will change as the player masters the skill of handling it.

Gothic Remake will be released in 2024 on PC, PlatStation 5 and Xbox Series. And Nintendo Switch owners will have to be content with the classic version due to the technical backwardness of the hybrid console.
