In a few months, Gotham City, the city of the vigilante Batman, will be in the hands of the Bat-Family. Moreover, this new organization of superheroes composed of Batgirl, but also of Robin, Nightwing and Redhood, will not come empty-handed. Today, the Gotham Knights superheroes unveiled 28 of their costumes.
The Bat-Family’s wardrobe revealed
After revealing his first 16 minutes of play alongside Batgirl just a few hours ago, Gotham Knights, the cooperative title from Warner Bros., is already back in the spotlight. But this time, the goal is not to show us the various antics that Batgirl and her companions can perform, but to reveal a good part of the wardrobe of her superheroes.
We were more or less convinced that there would be a lot of costumes for Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Redhood, but it seems that there are a lot more than expected. While not everything has been showcased yet, IGN had a chance to take a look at 28 of the costumes available in-game, including Beyond, the costumes from the Deluxe version of the game.
If we already have the right to a nice overview of the many costume collections that it will be possible to find in game, starting with the KnightWatch skins directly made by Jim Lee (a legendary artist from DC Comics), we learn that there will be a total of 11 different sets when the game launches. In other words, in all, players will have 44 costumes to choose from for their superheroes.
Customization, an important factor
For Patrick Redding, creative director, and Geoff Ellenor, game director, customization is a very important element in a video game production; it is for this reason that they have opted for a wide range of outfits. The goal here is to allow players to better embody the different characters while maintaining a “certain degree of consistency”.
Player expression is very important to us, but we wanted to make sure we might leverage that in a way that allowed for some degree of consistency and unity in how all of these different costumes and costume styles look. Patrick Redding, Creative Director
We wanted to have the freedom to create costumes that were different enough from each other that they all had really strong personalities. And for that, we wanted to make sure they all look cool. You don’t want to end up with a weird looking Red Hood because you made the wrong fashion choices. Red Hood is supposed to always be cool. Geoff Ellenor, director of Gotham Knights
As a reminder, Gotham Knights is expected for October 25 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
