Russian designer Gosha Rubchinsky took over as chief designer of the Yeezy brand, founded by rapper Kanye West.
Yeezy released a press release regarding Rubchinsky’s appointment on the evening of December 13th. Kanye West posted it on his social media account X (formerly Twitter).
“The arrival of this legendary Russian designer at Yeezy, the world’s leading brand in music and fashion, is an important achievement in the history of design,” the statement said.
Under the Yeezy brand, Kanye West collaborated with Adidas to produce highly sought-following sneakers, as well as clothing and accessories. In 2022, Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye West due to his anti-Semitic remarks.
Gosha Rubchinsky is one of the most famous Russian designers in the world. Rubchinsky’s signature brand has produced collaborations with Burberry, Leviʼs, FILA, Adidas and a number of other brands and fashion houses.
Unofficial information regarding possible cooperation Rubchinsky and West appeared several years ago. Rubchinsky, in particular, made a sketch for one of West’s tattoos in 2018.
