The death of former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev symbolizes the end of the unipolar world and US hegemony. This was stated by the head of the Center for Expert Support of Political Processes Alexei Yaroshenko.
“His death, like the death of any person, must be taken tragically. It symbolizes the end of the era marked by Gorbachev’s rule,” Alexei Yaroshenko said in an interview with by TV channel 360. According to him, it was under Gorbachev that the United States managed to establish a unipolar world system and its hegemony, which is now coming to an end.
The expert believes that the establishment of American hegemony is directly related to Gorbachev’s mistakes in the leadership of the Soviet Union. “He, having incorrectly assessed the degree and depth of the degradation of the system, both command-administrative and one-party, took the wrong steps,” he clarified.
Democratization is a concept created by the intellectual elite of the West to include new countries in their orbit of influence, the political scientist explained. Gorbachev found himself at the origins of the unipolar world, but now his death symbolizes the end of this unipolar world, Yaroshenko concluded.
