Parveen Shakir, who has a unique style of Urdu literature, was born on November 24, 1952 in a religious family in Karachi. After receiving his Masters degree in English Literature, he held a senior position in the Civil Service of Pakistan. He also taught at the University of Karachi for some time.

Parveen Shakir’s poetry was a breath of fresh air in Urdu literature. His unique poetry theme is woman and love. His collections of poetry include Khushbu, Sadbarg, Self-talk, Ankar and Mah are all noteworthy.

Parveen Shakir, being a poetess of Urdu literature with a unique tone, has gained immense fame in a short period of time both at home and abroad, she has also been honored with Pride of Performance and Adamji Awards.
