Parveen Shakir, who has a unique style of Urdu literature, was born on November 24, 1952 in a religious family in Karachi. After receiving his Masters degree in English Literature, he held a senior position in the Civil Service of Pakistan, and also taught at the University of Karachi for some time.
Parveen Shakir’s poetry was a breath of fresh air in Urdu literature. His unique poetry theme is woman and love, his collection Kalam includes Khushbu, Sadbarg, Self-talk, Ankar and Mah all are noteworthy.
Parveen Shakir, being a poetess of Urdu literature with a unique accent, has gained immense fame in a short period of time at home and abroad, she has also been honored with Pride of Performance and Adamji Awards.
Parveen Shakir, who spread the fragrance of poetry in Urdu literature and literary gatherings, died in a traffic accident in December 1994 in Islamabad, but through her beautiful poems, she will always remain fragrant in Chaman Urdu.
