On the 81st birthday of famous Pakistani singer Iqbal Bano, Google doodled her name.

On the 81st birthday of renowned ghazal singer and singer Iqbal Bano, Google has named its doodle in his name.

Born in the year 1935 in the city of New Delhi, India, Iqbal Bano was fond of music from her childhood, which her father played an important role in nurturing.

He received his musical training from Ustad Chand Khan and started his artistic career in 1950 with All India Radio. After her marriage in 1952, she came to Pakistan with her husband and settled in Multan, but after her husband’s death, she moved from Multan to Lahore.

Along with Ghazal singing, Iqbal Bano had a special place in classical, semi-classical, thumri and dadhara. She was well-versed in Urdu, Punjabi, and Persian languages, which is why she gained prominence with her special skill in singing ghazals in different languages.

Iqbal Bano made famous poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poem ‘Hum Jehege’ in her beautiful style. Wherever Urdu is understood throughout the world, including the subcontinent, this poem has been a metaphor for resistance against oppression.

He has sung songs in super hit movies like Anonymous, Killer, Naftaf, Sarfrosh, Ishq Laila and Naagan. His vocal performance in the film Khattar, Payal Mein Geet Hain Chham Chham Ke, catapulted him to the heights of fame, and he was awarded the Presidential Award for Best Performance in 1990.

Iqbal Bano passed away on April 21, 2009 at the age of 74 after a brief illness.
